TOAD HOLLOW FARM
ARE WE THERE YET?

Papa Bear and Little Cub left early in the morning, just as the sun peaked over the hill top. They were going to visit Grandma Bear. Little Cub was so excited. He ran along beside his father trying to match his short baby steps to the larger bear's long stride. Quickly tiring of that, he ran in ever widening circles, out into the dew covered fields. What fun to chase the powder soft butterflies! He ran and laughed with excitement. As the sun climbed higher in the sky, the dew evaporated away and the air began to simmer with the sun's warmth. The little cub moved slower, and pretty soon he was holding onto Papa's strong paw. Little Cub was getting tired, very tired. Papa Bear scooped him up and put the small bear on his strong shoulders. Little Cub chattered happily. But soon the rocking motion of his father's steps lulled the small bear to sleep. Asleep to dream of Grandma and her wondrous honey chip cookies! A small smile formed on his lips even in his sleep. He was soon awake enough to ask "are we there yet?" |
